Padilla shared on the fundraiser page, “The Butterfields were involved in a horrific car accident while visiting relatives. This accident claimed the life of David Butterfield, a father, a respected teacher, and a long-time trainer at Parkland High School in El Paso, Texas. Kristina Butterfield, his daughter, is currently fighting for her life in critical condition. She is a junior at Hanks High School, ranked 4th in her class, and a part of the Varsity Girls Basketball team. Please, anything that you can help with will be greatly appreciated by the Butterfield family. Please keep them in your prayers.”

His brother, Jeff Butterfield, shared his grief, reminiscing about their childhood: “Growing up, David was my favorite little brother. He was a very friendly guy and very active in sports. All of the camping trips we had, fishing, hiking, checking out America in the bed of Pop’s old Ford pick-em-up—we did a lot together. You will definitely be missed, Dave.
