What Happened To Elana Amsterdam? Obituary

This is truly devastating news. Elana Amsterdam, the beloved food blogger and wellness advocate behind Elana’s Pantry, passed away from suicide on February 8, 2025, at the age of 57. She was a pioneer in gluten-free and grain-free cooking, touching millions with her recipes, cookbooks, and dedication to health.

Beyond her culinary influence, Elana was a passionate entrepreneur, founding Ecosav to promote recycling in NYC and investing in health-conscious brands like Primal Kitchen and LMNT. She was also a fierce advocate for women’s health and systemic change in the medical field.

Her passing is a tragic loss, not just for her family but for the entire wellness community. She leaves behind a powerful legacy of helping others and making the world a better place. My thoughts are with her loved ones during this heartbreaking time.

Ketul Arnild reacted to Elena’s passing “I have very sad news for all of you who studied and practiced at our Rasa Yoga studio in NYC. Our dear friend and colleague, Elana Amsterdam, unexpectedly died this past weekend. Elana, for those who didn’t know her, is pictured below wearing a white kerchief while cleaning the dining room at our first retreat on Mt. Desert Island. The photo below that is a group shot of an early Rasa Yoga Teacher Training. Elana is in the back row, second from left. The dot stickers are from our exploration of marma points in yogic and ayurvedic anatomy. We are very sad and send much love to her family.

An obituary and funeral details of Elana Amsterdam will be shared soon.
